Our ION CLUB Kitesurf Center in Cabarete is equiped with a wide range of DUOTONE Kiteboarding gear. So no matter which rental option you choose, you will always have the choice of several different boards and kites to use here at the ION CLUB Cabarete. Changing your gear during the day is made easy, since our kite center is situated directly on the main kitebeach in Cabarete. So whenever you feel the need of trying a different kite or board, just swing back in and test a different combination.
Our Instructors will be more than happy to help you finding the perfect setup for the day and make sure your session on the water is as great as it possibly can be!
Furthermore, Cabarete has not just one, but rather a great variety of outstanding kitespots to offer. Depending on the conditions, your level and preferences, our local staff can recommend you the best spot for any given day!
Our team also offers an exclusive equipment delivery service, in order for you to get your rented equipment at your doorstep. Just let us know which gear you want and where you are staying, and we’ll bring it to you!

All our Kitesurfing rental guest will be under the supervision of our safety team. Due to the shape of the bay and the location of the ION CLUB Center, even on days when the shorebreak might be a bit bigger, you’re perfectly safe. The inner spot is nicely protected, making a perfect and safe playgroung for all Kitesurfers.
In case however, you do need assistance, there is a rescue boat at your service at all times.

Since Kitesurfing is a wind driven sport and weather conditions might change, we understand that flexibility is key when it comes to equipment and as well, spot choice.
As mentioned earlier, as our guest, you don’t need to only kitesurf in front of the Center. Take your gear with you, to explore other spots in Cabarete as well.
Our team also offers an exclusive delivery service, and each guest receives their kite equipment at their doorstep. Just let us know, which gear you want to have delivered and we’re on our way!

As one of our kite rental guests you can use all standard kites and boards available out of the DUOTONE range. Change your kite size or model as often as you like and find your favorite combination each day you kite.
We have a wide selection of standard kites, twintips and straplessboards, as well as wetsuits, harnesses and more. We renew our stock regularly and we always have some of the latest equipment available. So come and ride with us, no need to carry your equipment and you will be able try the latest toys at our station.
SLS, and D-Lab range available in some of our centers at extra cost.
Requirements
A Kitesurf license is required to rent Equipment. VDWS min. Level 5 or IKO 3K. If no License existing we need to do a Level Check up

A word about
ION CLUB Cabarete
While searching for the route to the Indies, Christopher Columbus discovered the island of Hispaniola in 1492. Today, the island is divided into two parts: Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Cabarete is located on the north coast, which has become a real paradise for kitesurfers, and more recently for wingfoilers. The village has grown since the 90's, and has become a cosmopolitan meeting place at the beach as well as on the lagoon, with ideal sailing conditions most of the year. It is here in Cabarete that our ION CLUB Dominican Republic center is located, next to the Villa Taina Hotel, south of the lagoon.
BEST PERIODS
December, January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September
WIND
The wind in Cabarete is often light in the morning, but it strengthens around noon under the influence of the trade winds. The best wind conditions are from January to March and from June to September. The reef is about 600 meters from the beach, ideal for wave lovers, and has depth. In the large lagoon the water is flat and easy to access. Sometimes there are chops, but this spot always offers easy and safe sailing conditions. From May to October just in front of ION CLUB Cabarete, the wind is side shore and comes from the right, varying between 20 and 25 knots. From November to April, the wind is more side-offshore and less constant, and the waves are higher and more frequent. Wave lovers, you have been warned! Cabarete is the most famous place for kitesurfing and wingfoiling in the Dominican Republic.
WAVES
From November to April , the conditions are perfect for intermediate wave riders and wave freaks. Upwind of the center there is a shallow water section where beginners and intermediates feel comfortable and the tuition conditions are excellent. Beginners and intermediates can practice close to the shore while more experienced windsurfers can conquer the waves on the reef.
HOW TO GET TO CABARETE ?
Puerto Plata Airport
The closest airport to Cabarete is the Gregorio Luperon International Airport in Puerto Plata, on the north coast of the island and about 30 km west of Cabarete. Taxi services are available at all times as well as car rental services. Few flights from Europe land in Puerto Plata in recent years. If you choose to come via Puerto Plata, it is better to fly via Frankfurt or North America.
Santo Domingo Airport
An easier trip from France and Western Europe would be arriving at the international airport Las Americas in Santo Domingo, which is located in the capital on the south coast of the Dominican Republic. It is about a 3h 30 - 4h drive from Cabarete. The Spanish airlines Iberia and Air Europa offer flights via Madrid almost every day. On site, taxi and car rental services are available at all times. Rental cars can usually be returned to the airport in Puerto Plata.
Santo Domingo Airport

The third airport is the Cibao International Airport in Santiago, only an hour away from Cabarete. For those transiting from Eastern Europe, it is recommended to first take a connecting flight at the nearest and most convenient airport from a Western European city, and then take a direct flight to Puerto Plata.
