Our ION CLUB Windsurfing Center in Costa Calma is situated directly on the beach in front of the Hotel Monica Beach. The wind blows cross-offshore from the left. During the summer months the wind speed increases during the day, often reaching up to 30 knots. Due to the wind direction, close to the beach the wind is usually lighter and therefore ideal for our not so experienced windsurfers, while outside the more advanced riders will find a perfect playground. It really is a great feeride spot!
Our ION CLUB Center in Costa Calma is equipped with a wide range, and large quantities of the latest Fanatic boards and Duotone riggs. As our guest you can choose between a fixed board rental option, or a more flexible variation of different boards to use during your stay with us. Whichever option you choose, you can be assured that the equipment provided will be in top condition, making your windsurf experience with us as pleasant can be.

YOUR SAFETY IS OUR RESPONSABILITY
Ensuring your safety during each of your windsurfing sessions at the ION CLUB Costa Calma is our top priority.
All of our windsurfing rental guests will be under the supervision of our safety team. The lookout station at the beach is always occupied by a lifeguard watching over the windsurfers during the day, and able to act immediately in case of any emergency. We have two towers with lifeguards watching the water all of the time, with one tower on the right of the center and the other on the left. The safety team is ready at all times to attend to rescues with the jet ski or the zodiac.
Beware of offshore wind as it carries risks and it demands that you should assess your sailing abilities honestly before going out in such conditions.

Since Windsurfing is a wind driven sport and weather conditions might change, we understand that flexibility is key when it comes to equipment choice. Therefore no matter which rental option you choose, you will always have the choice of several different boards to use here in Costa Calma.
In addition to the choice of your board category, you will also have the possibility to choose one specific board during your stay with us. Your fixed board will be there for you at all times, while you still have the chance of using another board if the wind conditions change.

A word about
ION CLUB Costa Calma
The center of Costa Calma is very close to Morro Jable, a tourist center in the southeast of Fuerteventura. It takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes to get from Fuerteventura airport to Costa Calma. The ION CLUB Costa Calma center is located in the middle of the large sandy beach of the village of Costa Calma, right in front of the Monica Beach Hotel.
Take advantage of this ideally located spot, as it is only a short walk from most of the hotels in the village. Besides the advantage of the short distance between the hotels and the center, you will also find excellent conditions for windsurfing and wingfoil. There is no kitesurfing in Costa Calma, because the municipality forbids it.
BEST PERIODS
May, June, July, August, September
WIND
At low tide, you can stand for the first 30 meters, as the fine sandy beach slopes down slowly. On the other hand, at high tide, the water becomes deep quickly. There may be a small harmless beach break due to the movement of the sand at this time. Directly in front of the center, a launch is reserved for windsurfers. No waves - or very rarely - at the center of Costa Calma! If you're looking for waves, you'd better go to our other ION CLUB center in Risco del Paso, about 20 minutes by road.
WAVES
At low tide you can easily stand for the first 30 meters as the sandy beach drops down smoothly. At high tide it gets deep after the first 10 to 15 meters. In the afternoon you can find a harmless little beachbreak due to the sandy beach. Directly in front of the center there is a sandy 40 meters entrance reserved for windsurfers. No waves at Costa Calma center! Better at the Risco del Paso center.
HOW TO GET TO COSTA CALMA?
From Fuerteventura Airport
The trip from Fuerteventura airport to Costa Calma takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes. From the airport by car take the FV-2 towards Morro Jable and Jandia. The ION CLUB Costa Calma center is located on the beach right in front of the SBH Costa Calma Palace and the Monica Beach Hotel. If you want to go from Costa Calma to Risco del Paso, drive on the FV-2 towards Morro Jable until PK 72 "Risco del Paso".

COFETE
A short off-road trip away from Costa Calma, you can find a small town called Cofete, it is situated in one of the natural park of Fuerteventura. After enjoying a panoramic view of Fuerteventura' s south coast, you can enjoy some of the typical canarian dishes in the local restaurant.
LA PARED
La Pared is situated on the West Coast, about 10 km from Costa Calma. In this small little town, you can find a very nice beach and some waves, perfect for surfing. A must do on your trip to Fuerteventura is to sit on the cliffs of La Pared and watch the sun disappear in the horizon.
LAS PEĂ‘ITAS
For hiking fans, Fuerteventura has a few things to offer, one of them is the so called “Baranco de las Peñitas”. After a walk through the volcanic rocks, where you will see a few of the local chipmunks and goats, you will find a “rock window” through which you have a nice view of the mountains.
