WingFOIL Lessons PROGRAM
At the ION CLUB center we offer a wide range of different wingsurf lessons. Whether you are a complete beginner, with no prior surf-sport experience, or a windsurfer, kitesurfer or surfer who is interested in learning this amazing new sport, we can help!
Beginner lessons are very similar to windsurf beginner lessons. Wingsurf students start on the same board as windsurfers, and just trade the sail for a wing. After that the learning objectives for beginners are the same as for windsurfers, and after only a couple of hours you will be able to ride independently.
For the more experienced riders we offer high standard wingfoil lessons, with a maximum of 2 people per instructor and we teach you how to fly safely, jibe or even jump with your wingfoil Gear.

WINGFOIL EQUIPMENT ION CLUB COSTA CALMA
ION CLUB Costa Calma provides the latest equipment from DUOTONE and FANATIC.
Wings and boards are specifically geared towards beginner instruction. It goes without saying that we use the most up-to-date safety systems. Our experienced and fully certified instructors teach wingsurfing in an environment characterised by a maximum of safety, allowing you to learn the sport without danger or frustration.
SAFETY
Safety in practicing Wingsurf Costa Calma
Safety towers at Costa Calma are always occupied by lifeguards watching over windsurfers during opening hours, and able to act immediately in case of any emergency. There is one tower on the right of the center, and the other on the left. The safety team is ready at all times to attend rescues with the jetski or the zodiac.
Nevertheless, we would like to underline that the spot at Risco del Paso Playa Sotavento has offshore winds, and therefore every windsurfer and kitesurfer should act with due diligence to prevent dangerous situations. Offshore winds are risky and demand that you assess your abilities honestly before going out in such conditions.
FLEXBILITY
Booking a lesson online is always a tricky thing to do – we know. Determining which course you actually need, without being on site, on the water and trying is very difficult.
So, don’t worry! No matter which course you pre-book with us. If during the lesson you realise, that another course would be better suited for you, we will always change your booking to the best course available to match your needs.

After handling your Wing is not a problem anymore and you´re able to navigate safely on a beginner Board with your Wing, it´s time to enter the next level. You will be introduced to a safe and efficient way to Wingfoil. The goal of this Intro is to lift your Board out of the water, grow Wings and fly:)
For all experienced Windsurfers and Kitesurfers, it can be booked even without having prior Wing experience. For everyone else, make sure to start with our Wing Surf Discovery first.

A word about
ION CLUB COSTA CALMA
The center of Costa Calma is very close to Morro Jable, a tourist center in the southeast of Fuerteventura. It takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes to get from Fuerteventura airport to Costa Calma. The ION CLUB Costa Calma center is located in the middle of the large sandy beach of the village of Costa Calma, right in front of the Monica Beach Hotel.
Take advantage of this ideally located spot, as it is only a short walk from most of the hotels in the village. Besides the advantage of the short distance between the hotels and the center, you will also find excellent conditions for windsurfing and wingfoil. There is no kitesurfing in Costa Calma, because the municipality forbids it.
BEST PERIODS
May, June, July, August, September
WIND
At low tide, you can stand for the first 30 meters, as the fine sandy beach slopes down slowly. On the other hand, at high tide, the water becomes deep quickly. There may be a small harmless beach break due to the movement of the sand at this time. Directly in front of the center, a launch is reserved for windsurfers. No waves - or very rarely - at the center of Costa Calma! If you're looking for waves, you'd better go to our other ION CLUB center in Risco del Paso, about 20 minutes by road.
WAVES
At low tide you can easily stand for the first 30 meters as the sandy beach drops down smoothly. At high tide it gets deep after the first 10 to 15 meters. In the afternoon you can find a harmless little beachbreak due to the sandy beach. Directly in front of the center there is a sandy 40 meters entrance reserved for windsurfers. No waves at Costa Calma center! Better at the Risco del Paso center.
HOW TO GET TO COSTA CALMA?
From Fuerteventura Airport
The trip from Fuerteventura airport to Costa Calma takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes. From the airport by car take the FV-2 towards Morro Jable and Jandia. The ION CLUB Costa Calma center is located on the beach right in front of the SBH Costa Calma Palace and the Monica Beach Hotel. If you want to go from Costa Calma to Risco del Paso, drive on the FV-2 towards Morro Jable until PK 72 "Risco del Paso".
