The ION CLUB Kitesurfing Center situated right on the beach and due to the distance from Essaouira town, the wind is blowing pretty steady sideshore from the right. Right in front of the Center, conditions are great for freeriding or some bump and jump freestyle. A little further down the beach, the waves are building up more and more, creating a fantastic playground for some kite wave sessions.
The Center is equipped with the latest and full range of DUOTONE Kiteboarding gear. Choose freely between EVO or NEO, standard construction or SLS, available in large quantities and all sizes. Our Duotone Board stocks range from various Twintips such as Jaime, Select, Gonzales standard construction or SLS to a variety of Directionals, such as WHAM SLS, WHIP SLS, FISH SLS. The range of Kitesurfing toys is topped up with Click Bars and different Kite Foil Boards for you to play with!
Our Instructors will be more than happy to help you finding the perfect setup for the day!

Ensuring your safety during each of your Kitesurfing session at the ION CLUB Essaouira is a top priority !
All our Kitesurfing rental guest will be under the supervision of our safety team. The watchout station at the Ocean Vagabond beach is always occupied by a lifeguard looking over the Kitesurfers during daytime, and able to act immediately in case of any emergency. The safety team is ready at all times to attend rescues with the zodiac.
If you still feel a little uncomfortable riding on your own, our team offers a special supervised rental option in order to enable you to become an independet Kitesurfer, avoiding any stress along the way.
FLEXBILITY
Our kite center is situated directly on the beach in Essaouira and therefore it makes changing equipment throughout the day very easy.
As one of our kite rental guests, you are free to use any kiteboard and any DUOTONE kite of the range, change your gear as often as you like and find your favourite combination every day you kite.
You´re also free to take your rental gear with you to explore some of the amzing other Kitesurfing spots in the area. Just ask our Team for recommendations which spot to visit on any given day.

As one of our kite rental guests you can use all standard kites and boards available out of the DUOTONE range. Change your kite size or model as often as you like and find your favorite combination each day you kite.
We have a wide selection of standard kites, twintips and straplessboards, as well as wetsuits, harnesses and more. We renew our stock regularly and we always have some of the latest equipment available. So come and ride with us, no need to carry your equipment and you will be able try the latest toys at our station.
SLS, and D-Lab range available in some of our centers at extra cost.
Requirements
A Kitesurf license is required to rent Equipment. VDWS min. Level 5 or IKO 3K. If no License existing we need to do a Level Check up

A word about
ION CLUB Essaouira
Essaouira is a charming coastal town of 78,000 inhabitants, located in the center of Morocco on the Atlantic coast, with endless beaches in and around the town. It has been a favourite destination for windsurfers, kitesurfers and surfers from all over the world for a very long time. The architecture of the old town is strongly influenced by Berber, Portuguese and French culture. The massive appearance of the walls around the old town gives it a mystical sublimity, and it is easy to see why it was once called "Mogador", which translates as "little fortress".
Essaouira is not only an incredible kitesurfing and windsurfing spot, but it also has a huge cultural potential and history.
BEST PERIODS
May, June, July, August, September
WIND
The wind blows mainly side shore in Essaouira, and comes from the right when looking at the sea. Some days it is less regular, more gusty, and turns slightly offshore (from the land). Between June and August the thermal wind strengthens the trade winds, so the wind becomes stronger. The kitesurfing, windsurfing and wingfoil center of ION CLUB Essaouira does courses in the morning, and the thrill seekers mainly sail in the afternoon. You will find some of the same atmosphere of Lassarga or Dakhla Lagoon in the south of Morocco, where two other ION CLUBs have settled in the same serene place. Kitesurfing, wingfoil, surfing and windsurfing are sports that are very important in Morocco.
WAVES
Wave conditions are particularly good in spring and autumn (1 to 2 meters). Due to the strong wind, the waves are slightly smaller between June and August (0.5 to 1 meters). Otherwise, the spot in the bay of Essaouira is choppy/slightly choppy.
HOW TO GET TO ESSAOUIRA ?
From Essaouira Airport
There are direct flights from Essaouira to Paris, Bordeaux and Marseille via Transavia, Easyjet and Ryan Air. There are also direct flights from Weeze to Essaouira via Ryanair. Weeze airport is located close to Dusseldorf and is also quite easy to access from Netherland. You can to have direct fly also from Madrid, London and Brussels via Ryan Air.
From Marrakesh
Leave Marrakech airport and follow the road to the city center. At the first roundabout, you can see the sign "Essaouira" on the left side. Follow the road for about 170 km until you arrive in Essaouira. The roads are well maintained and the trip will take about 2h30. When you arrive in Essaouira, take the coastal road with the sea on your left. Follow this road until you see the ION CLUB center, right next to the Ocean Vagabond restaurant. You will finally enjoy your Moroccan kite or windsurfing trip, in the generous and beautiful city of Essaouira
From Agadir
Leave the airport and take the road to the city center. When you get to the main road along the coast, you will see the sign "Essaouira". Follow this road for about 180 km. It will take about 3 hours as there are many curves on the road. When you arrive at the first intersection in Essaouira, go straight to the coastal road, you will find the ION CLUB center right next to the Ocean Vagabond restaurant.
