At ION CLUB Golf de Roses we offer a wide range of different wingsurf lessons. Whether you are a complete beginner, without experience in any surf sports, or a windsurfer, kitesurfer or surfer excited to learn this amazing new sport, we can help!
Beginner lessons are actually very similar to windsurf beginner lessons. Wingsurf students start on the same board as windsurfers, and just trade the sail for a wing. After that the learning objectives for beginners are the same as for our windsurf students, and after only a couple of hours you will be able to ride by yourself.
For the more experienced riders we offer high standard wingfoil lessons. With a maximum of 2 people per instructor we teach you how to fly safely, jibe or even jump with your wingfoil equipment.

Wings and boards are specifically geared to beginners instruction. It goes without saying that we use the most up-to-date safety systems, and our experienced and fully certified instructors teach wingsurfing in an environment characterised by a maximum of safety, allowing you to learn the sport without danger or frustration.

The course participants are under the constant supervision of the wingsurfing instructor. Furthermore, a lifeboat is quickly available for any emergencies.

Booking a lesson online is always a tricky thing to do – we know. Determining which course you actually need, without being on site, on the water and trying is very difficult.
So, don’t worry! No matter which course you pre-book with us. If during the lesson you realise, that another course would be better suited for you, we will always change your booking to the best course available to match your needs.

Let´s get started!
For all of you who never tried Wing, – or Windsurfing before. This is your course! Here you will learn the very basics of Wing Surfing. Our Instructors will teach you how to handle the Wing effectivley on a non-foiling Board and prepare yourself for the first flights on your Wing Foil Board.
Requirements
Participants need to be able to swim for at least 15 minutes in open water. No experiences in any other Surfing Sport needed.

From zero to hero in our Discovery and Foil Combo! This course will teach you the wingsurf basics and then take you straight into the world of foiling!
Requirements
Participants need to be able to swim at least for 15min in open water. Other than that, no prior experience in any watersport is needed.

After handling your Wing is not a problem anymore and you´re able to navigate safely on a beginner Board with your Wing, it´s time to enter the next level. Our Instructors will introduce you in safe and efficient way to Wing FOILING. The goal of this lesson is to lift your Board out of the water, grow Wings and fly:)
For all experienced Windsurfers and Kitesurfers, this course can be booked even without having prior Wing experience. For al the others, make sure to check out our Wing Surf Discovery courses first.

A word about
ION CLUB Golf de Roses
Golf de Roses is undoubtedly THE windsurf, kitesurf and wingfoil spot on the Costa Brava in the north of Spain. A spot where the Tramontana, a north/northwest wind from the Pyrenees, and the constant sea breeze during the summer months blow regularly. The long sandy Bay of Roses, on the Mediterranean coast, only 30 km south of the French border has been a favorite spot for windsurfers and kitesurfers for decades … and of course, now wingfoilers.
The ION CLUB Golf de Roses center, at the southern end of the bay, is located between the villages of Sant Pere Pescador and L'Escala, more precisely in the Camping & Bungalow Resort La Ballena Alegre Costa Brava. Every year this campsite hosts the World Cup of Windsurfing, which takes place right next to our ION CLUB center.

WIND
During the warmer months in summer a fairly reliable thermal wind from the southeast is the dominant wind in the Bay of Roses. The Tramontana, a north/northwest wind, blows mainly during the colder months, but it can also show up in the middle of summer for several days, and can reach 25-30 knots. In front of the center of the ION CLUB Golf de Roses, in summer the wind often blows sideshore, coming from the left when looking at the sea. In the morning there is usually only a gentle wind, offering perfect conditions for children and beginners in windsurfing and kitesurfing courses. In the afternoon, this thermal wind increases, quite often reaching 20-25 knots, and the most experienced windsurfers, kitesurfers and wingfoilers can finally indulge their passion. Windsurfing courses to master the jibe or practice water start, and also wingfoil courses for all levels take place in the afternoons.
WAVES
Occasionally, waves of varying heights are formed near the shore. However, as a rule, the water is flat or choppy between May and October.
HOW TO GET THERE ?
From Barcelona or Girona
By car access the ION CLUB Golf de Roses center by the highway (Autopista AP 7, French border - Barcelona).
Coming from France or from Girona airport (45 minutes) or Barcelona (1h30), you must take exit 5, L'Escala / Empuries.
Then, take the G1-623 towards L'Escala for about 20 km.
Just before arriving at L'Escala, you will come to a roundabout (on the right: Tourist Office) where you will turn left towards St. Martí d'Empúries / Platges St Pere Pescador.
After 1 km, you will see the village of St. Martí d'Empúries on your right. At this small traffic circle, continue straight on.
You will pass over a small bridge and finally you will be able to read the large yellow signs of the campsite La Ballena Alegre Costa Brava, first campsite on the right. The ION CLUB Golf de Roses center is located at the right end of the campsite (looking towards the sea).
Parking
If you are not staying at the Resort La Ballena Alegre campsite and bungalows, but at one of the hotels, apartments or other campsites in the area, please read the parking instructions carefully.
During low season, when this camping ground is closed, you can drive into the camping ground itself and park directly behind our ION CLUB center. The gate at the reception will open automatically. Follow the signs inside the campsite.
During high season the campsite is open. Unfortunately, you cannot enter by car if you are not a guest of the campsite. As an ION CLUB guest you can park your car for free for 3 hours per day in the parking lot in front of the reception if you present your voucher at the reception of the camping La Ballena Alegre. Of course you can walk inside the campsite to our ION CLUB center. From the reception parking lot to the ION CLUB is only a 5 minute walk.
