WHERE TO EAT: RESTAURANT AND BAR

Sofia offers a buffet breakfast next to the swimming pool, with fresh eggs prepared à la carte. For lunch and dinner, Anemos is a great option nearby, with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and a diverse menu featuring traditional Greek specialities and refined international cuisine. Operated in cooperation with ION CLUB, Anemos is also a lively meeting point for guests, the ION CLUB team and local residents, with a weekly street-food night and live DJ entertainment.

You will also find a few other restaurants around Afiartis, including tavernas, pizza options and restaurants along the main street. A small supermarket is about 15 to 20 minutes away on foot, and the hotel can organise a free car transfer to the supermarket for purchases of at least €30. For a different evening out, you can also drive to Pigadia, the island’s capital, around 20 to 30 minutes away, where you will find plenty of restaurants and bars and enjoy a taste of local life.

THINGS TO DO IN KARPATHOS

From Afiartis Karpathos, you can enjoy hiking, mountain biking, diving, snorkeling, and beach yoga, as well as scenic day trips around the island.

For outdoor lovers, Karpathos hiking trails lead through traditional villages, coastal viewpoints, pine forests, and mountain landscapes. Mount Kali Limni, at 1,215 metres, is the highest peak in Karpathos and the highest summit in the Dodecanese, making it a great spot for mountain biking and active exploration.

The island is also known for some of the best beaches Karpathos has to offer, including Apella Beach Karpathos, famous for its turquoise water and dramatic scenery. A visit to Karpathos Olympos Village is also a must if you want to discover one of the island’s most traditional villages.

Windsurfing and wingfoiling in Afiartis : In Karpathos, Afiartis is one of the finest watersports spots in the Mediterranean. Three bays follow one another from north to south: Vatha (Devil’s Bay), Gun Bay and Chicken Bay (Makris Gialos), from beginner to expert. The Meltemi wind blows from May to mid-September, and the bay has hosted the Speed Windsurfing World Championship since 2006. From Sofia Apartments, the ION CLUB Karpathos centre is a 5-minute walk away.
