We understand that besides professional tuition, the most important thing when it comes to learning kitesurfing is time to practice. This is why we organise all of our lessons in a way that maximises your time with the kite, without sacrificing your safety of course.
Here at ION CLUB Furteventura, Risco del Paso, you won’t find large group lessons with 4 students or more sharing one kite. Whenever the conditions allow it, our instructors will make sure that you have your own kite to practice, train, and make mistakes in a safe and protected environment.

A safety tower at Risco del Paso Playa Sotavento is always occupied by a lifeguard watching over the kitesurfers during opening hours, and able to act immediately in case of any emergency. The safety team is ready all times to attend rescues with the jetski or the zodiac. Nevertheless, we would like to underline that the spot at Risco del Paso Playa Sotavento has offshore wind, and therefore every kitesurfer should act with due diligence to prevent dangerous situations. Offshore wind is risky and demand that you should assess your sailing abilities honestly before going out in such conditions.
FLEXIBILITY
We understand that choosing a kitesurf lesson package from home might be difficult. Don´t worry! No matter which package you choose, if during the lesson the instructor realizes that another package would be more suitable for you, you can always change that on site. You will never have to join a lesson, which actually doesn´t suit your expectations or level.
After every session your instructor will give you detailed feedback and recommendation on how to continue – no matter which course you initially booked. Your success and progress is all that matters to us!

Having fun while learning the very basics up to your first water starts. These are the 3 steps to get there :

Flying a kite on land: launching, landing and kite control

Getting up and riding on a board
You don’t need to be super-fit to kitesurf. And the kit is lightweight, so you don’t need lots of muscle strength either. But of course, a decent level of fitness will help you to progress faster.
Your instructor will be there to support you, coach you, and more importantly, keep you safe through the learning process.
We will provide a range of different DUOTONE KITEBOARDING kites, boards, bars suiting the wind conditions.
Usually, you will do 2 hours/day for the 6 hours course but if there are availability and wind conditions you might be able to squeeze in 2 sessions in a day. Please make sure you contact the center prior your arrival date to check the time of your lesson. Minimum of 24 hours before booking online.

A word about
ION CLUB Risco del Paso
The beautiful natural beach of Risco del Paso in the south of Fuerteventura is located 7 kilometers south of Costa Calma. In 2013, ION CLUB opened a windsurfing and kitesurfing school there.
There are very few places in the world that offer so many different riding conditions in one place, as does the island of Fuerteventura and the ION CLUB Fuerteventura center. Customers can use the regular and free shuttle service between the ION CLUB centers of Risco del Paso and Costa Calma. Here, at the center of Risco Del Paso, the advantage is that we have wind all year round, and shallow waters that allow you to have a large standing area, which makes this spot a unique place.

WIND
The hills just behind the beach of Risco del Paso accentuate the strength of the wind and also affect its direction. The wind blows in a northeast direction, from the left towards the open sea. It is quite strong and very reliable in Fuerteventura, especially in the summer. Although not as strong in spring and autumn, the wind is still present. The conditions for kitesurfing, windsurfing and wingfoiling are optimal, making it a very popular surfing destination. Fuerteventura became known decades ago for windsurfing. The island has always been an undisputed windsurfing spot. Surfing in Fuerteventura is also a local institution.
WAVES
The waves on the left side of the spot of Risco del Paso can sometimes reach up to two meters in height. They roll towards the beach because of the large sandbar that divides the lagoon, the open sea and the bay. The wave conditions are fantastic, especially for beginners in both windsurfing and surfing. There are no rocks or stones that could endanger you during your session, only sand.
HOW TO GET TO sotavento beach RISCO DEL PASO?
From Fuerteventura Airport
It is quite easy to travel to and stay in Fuerteventura all year around. Several direct flights are offered by airlines from many European airports. Do not hesitate to rent a car as the rates are often attractive and it will be very useful to move from spot to spot, or to see more of the beautiful island.
Allow about 1 hour and 15 minutes from Fuerteventura airport to the ION CLUB Risco del Paso center, which is located a little past Costa Calma. From the airport, take the FV-2 road towards Morro Jable and Jandia. The ION CLUB center in Costa Calma is located on the beach of the same name, right in front of the Monica Beach Hotel. If you want to go from Costa Calma to Risco del Paso, drive on the FV-2 in the direction of Morro Jable until PK 72 "Risco del Paso".
