Essaouira is especially interesting if you enjoy mixing freeride with wave riding, or if you are looking for a spot that helps you progress in a variety of conditions.
Another advantage: the center is open all year round, with reliable wind and pleasant temperatures even in winter. If you are looking for a winter alternative to southern Europe, it is a smart choice.
And if you are looking for a spot surrounded by the Moroccan desert, you can also discover Dakhla. But in Essaouira, you are right in the heart of a vibrant and cultural coastal city.
Crowds: Lively Atmosphere or More Space on the Water?
Your time on the water also depends on the number of riders sharing the spot with you.
In Tarifa, especially during peak summer season, the vibe is intense. The beaches get packed, colorful kites fill the sky and schools are running all day long. There is a real energy in the air. Others may find it a bit too much when they are looking for a more relaxed session.
